We are Local, Independent Media. Free, critical, and inquisitive. MainStreetOshkosh.Com is Oshkosh's most reliable and informative online news source since 2007.
As of April 2011, we average 2476 page views per month, with a monthly readership of over 650 regular viewers.
Effective June 2011, MSO will be branching out to include additional contributors while expanding our content coverage and viewpoints.
Unlike the dishonest claims from most mainstream media outlets of impartiality and unbiased coverage, we have opinions and share them, relying on available data and resources to support our positions.
MSO operates under the following philosophy:
- A significant amount of important information, resources, data, and issues exist that are inadequately or ineptly covered by mainstream media outlets, while many key concepts are never discussed.
- Oshkosh has a terrific dynamic of history, academic value, blue-collar working families, vast water resources, and localism. MSO is dedicated to highlighting the best of Oshkosh, while critically analyzing city affairs to better strengthen and improve our city.
- Providing alternative opinions and insight into the discussion is extremely valuable, particularly in a city and region with only one main print media source and no other comprehensive news sources.
- While we do not pretend to contend with the vast readership of mass-marketed, for-profit, revenue-drivin media, we believe that a well-researched, clearly articulated article on MSO can have as significant of an impact as any local media piece.

"Big THANK YOU to Main Street Oshkosh for this terrific endorsement-It’s so important to have these things voiced, loud and clear, in voices that aren’t mine, or our board’s." The Grand, July 2009
"I love your blog (both my wife and I check in on it daily)" Oshkosh Beer, 2011
