It may take a little while to do so. You can see them in person at city hall until then.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6974772333292976719.post-21324807124682823762008-09-11T11:44:00.000-05:002008-09-11T11:44:00.000-05:00"What?? The part that was even more disheartening (and confusing) was the chair of the board said even they as a board didn't have a problem with the ordinance change. What?? I'm sure she wasn't speaking for every one of them, but maybe those who don't see the problem with it aren't the best choices for board members.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6974772333292976719.post-81955316552734798402008-09-05T13:35:00.000-05:002008-09-05T13:35:00.000-05:00"When Jon and Mark got to the E&E resolution, Mark..."When Jon and Mark got to the E&E resolution, Mark said that the language in the existing ordinance is outdated and the city was simply getting it up to date. Jon did not proceed to ask what that specifically means."

Well guys, that's because Jon works for the city.

After much more thought on the issue and discussions with associates, I've come to the conclusion that this was a direct and surreptitious step to dismantle the EE Board.

However, the board itself needs to look inward at it's leadership and direction. If the way they operate continues, they will render themselves ineffective and even more important- useless.CJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04833070877059285634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6974772333292976719.post-73749449242229802008-09-01T18:49:00.000-05:002008-09-01T18:49:00.000-05:00He hiring was to have been the catalyst for change...He hiring was to have been the catalyst for change.
typo-
His hiring was to have been the catalyst for change.CJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04833070877059285634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6974772333292976719.post-67608750358950826112008-09-01T16:05:00.000-05:002008-09-01T16:05:00.000-05:00To increase accountability, NOT to remove it. Yes ...To increase accountability, NOT to remove it.

Yes indeed. Kudos to the councilors who voted no.

What disturbs and stuns me is the response "this is not your responsibility". While true that the board is not accountable, the EE IS an advisory board, and in that capacity MUST be allowed to review policies, procedures and operation of city departments.

We, as citizens of Oshkosh, must continue with concerted and dedicated effort to demand accountability in city government. We must not allow ourselves to be soft pedaled catch phrases like "update" or "reword". We cannot allow our city government to fall back on it's old ways of doing things. And we cannot let our city manager off the hook regarding accountability. He hiring was to have been the catalyst for change.

The old guard's stance that the "regular orderly process" and "the accepted process" is no longer acceptable.

This is a new day in this city.
And those of us who give a darn aren't going away.CJhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04833070877059285634noreply@blogger.com
